KUSPI. What are the five words that come before ‘Kubus’ in the alphabet? Kubistin, kubistisch, kubital, Kübler and Kubrick. That explains nothing – or almost everything – about the polyclinic with its outpatient departments. A five-storey new building. Waiting and lounge areas surrounding the atrium. Treatment areas running along the external façade, such as the open, light-filled dialysis unit with highly functional and more private cubicles. A bunker for a linear accelerator on the ground floor, whose own inner courtyard allows radiotherapy treatments to be carried out in daylight. Two outpatient operating theatres with natural light and a new, staff-efficient concept for patient admission and discharge. Short distances. Plus plenty of freedom and flexibility in how the space is used. The cube is surrounded by a delicate façade and a hilly landscape.
