The new maintenance depot and fire station defines the northern entrance to Bad Ragaz as a striking landmark. Nestled between the Flamsbach stream and the gently rolling green hills, the complex bridges the gap between infrastructure and residential development, reinforcing the existing settlement structure.

The volumetric organisation into staggered building cubes responds to the scale of the surroundings whilst simultaneously creating clearly defined outdoor spaces. A new forecourt serves as a public gateway with a view towards St Leonhard’s Chapel and naturally integrates pedestrian and cycle traffic.

The architecture is conceived as ‘process architecture’, in which the form is developed directly from operational processes. Clear structures, robust typologies and a precise layout form the basis for a building that is both functional and imbued with a distinct identity.
