Schaffhausen Police and Security Centre
The site for the new Police and Security Centre is situated on the edge of the forest. A feasibility study has already been carried out, and we are building on that. We are transforming the main building, with its light wells, into a slender slab. This creates space for an outer courtyard and allows more light into the interior. Building on this key feature, we are designing the whole project according to a formula with three ingredients: the shell defines the urban scale, whilst the structural engineering and access arrangements ensure adaptability. After all, what is an administrative building if not a whole that can be divided into smaller parts?
